If age is but a number,
Why do we count the passing year?
If love is everlasting,
Why do we part at death?
If we seize today,
Can we skip tomorrow?
If we go to heaven,
Why’s death full of sorrow?

Ariana Velasquez is a seventeen-year-old student at Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Pikeville, Kentucky. She is an actress, political activist, poet, and plays the banjo.
